This morning, Alacra launched the Alacra Wiki as a service to the information industry. This is a resource that has been needed for a long time. On the Wiki, it is easy to find sources, people, commentary and other valuable industry content and should prove valuable to both content companies as well as those who purchase and deploy information for their organizations.

The idea of creating this resource as a Wiki rather than a straight Web site is a great one. This way, anybody can make updates and the likelihood that the content will be used more often and by more people is higher. Alacra deserves complements for taking the initiative and for being forward thinking.

As we’ve seen with other user generated content including blogs, there is a very strong trend towards content created by industry experts for industry experts. In any market, Blogs and Wikis used together with premium content from branded publications is a powerful combination.
