Entries are now open for the 2014 SIIA Previews, which will be held during the SIIA IIS2014 conference from January 29-30, 2014 at Pier Sixty in New York City.

Each year during the Software & Information Industry Association annual conference, the SIIA Previews event showcases the most innovative companies in the information industry. Business-to-business content companies can apply to present their products, services, and visions to an audience of key industry decision-makers.

Any B2B content company, including publishers, content aggregators, technology plays, and so on, with real customers, less than $10 million in revenue, and no more than a Series A round of financing can apply to present at SIIA Previews 2014. Most companies present to secure funding, strategic partners, or new customers, but some present to secure an exit.

The list of past SIIA Previews presenting companies is filled with companies that have gone on to achieve great success. A few highlights include:

  • Pubget was acquired by Copyright Clearance Center
  • Associated Content closed $60 million in Series C funding
  • FeeDisclosure was purchased by Bankrate
  • Generate, Inc. was purchased by Dow Jones

For your company to be considered as a presenter at SIIA Previews 2014, you must apply before December 6, 2013. First round judging by a selection committee of industry experts (including Newstex President Larry Schwartz) will identify start-ups with the most interesting stories. Fifteen companies will move to the second round of judging. Between December 9th and 20th, those companies will present 5-minute pitches to the judges. All companies that present during the second round of judging will receive valuable feedback following their 5-minute pitches. The top 10 companies will present at the SIIA Previews 2014 event in January. They’ll also receive coaching leading up to the SIIA Previews 2014 event.

Presenting companies will get five minutes to deliver their presentations followed by a question and answer session with industry CEOs, COOs, Presidents, and Division Heads of global and mid-sized information, publishing, and media companies as well as Managing Partners from leading private equity firms. The audience will vote and one presenting company will receive an award as the “Most Likely to Succeed” during the SIIA CODiE Awards celebration at the end of the conference. SIIA Previews presenting companies will also have a chance to exhibit their companies throughout the conference and attend a networking reception to showcase their products or services.
