It’s time for another round of the Publisher INsider series where we highlight some of the most INnovative, INteresting and INspirational content providers that are part of Newstex Blogs On Demand and Video On Demand.
This month, the Publisher INsider profiles Charity Navigator whose video content is part of Newstex Video On Demand.
Charity Navigator, a non-profit organization, has a very specific mission — to evaluate charities and rate them using a 4-star rating scale. In fact, Charity Navigator is the largest and most widely used charity evaluator in the United States. With over 5,300 well-known charities evaluated already, Charity Navigator provides comprehensive, in-depth information in order to ensure donors can make informed charitable giving decisions.
Using an extensive evaluation process, Charity Navigator rates charities based on two primary criteria:
- How responsibly the charity functions on a day-to-day basis.
- How well positioned the charity is to keep its programs going in the long-term.
Charity Navigator compiles the ratings on its website, which anyone can access for free. The site also includes top ten and bottom ten lists, opinions from experts, and more.
In 2008, over 4 million donors visited the Charity Navigator website to evaluate charities. The site has won numerous awards and the organization’s leaders often provide their services as experts to a variety of television shows, news organizations and more. Many of those videos are available through Charity Navigator’s YouTube channel, and that content is also available through Newstex Video On Demand.
Videos from Charity Navigator are diverse and cover a wide range of topics. For example, there are videos from Charity Navigator leaders’ appearances at conferences and on television, videos about causes such as National Hunger Awareness Month, and videos that answer common questions about charitable giving and charities such as:
- How Much Donor Money is Wasted in Your State?
- Why are Charities Exempt from the Federal Do Not Call List?
If you have questions about charities or charitable giving, the Charity Navigator website and videos are a great place to find answers.
